College Examination

All Examinations (Unit test/Annual/Seasonal) are conducted by Examination Committee of the college. Details of these tests are available in the Academic Calendar cum Progress Records of students.
Departments monitor the academic performance of each and every student throughout the year.
Student’s performance is monitored throughout the Semester by continuous assessment in the theory and practical paperbased on the following :
- Internal Evaluation Marks : 20%/15%
- External Evaluation Marks : 80%/60%
Internal Evaluation is based on two Sessional examinations, home assignments, seminars and library work in each Semester.
External Evaluation is done through a final examination at the end on the Semester.
The Pass Mark in each theory paper is 30% and that in each practical paper is 40%
In each paper, students must secure pass marks in both the internal and the external evaluations separately.
A student who did not appear or failed in any semester examination will be allowed to clear the same as follows:
- First Semester with the regular Third Semester examination.
- Second Semester with the regular Fourth Semester examination
- Third Semester with the regular Fifth Semester examination
- Fourth Semester with the regular Sixth Semester examination
A student may be allowed to “repeat” any one of the major theory papers in the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd
No “repeat” shall be allowed in the 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th
A student must pass all his Semester examinations, within six years from the date of admission to the 1^st Semester course.
Since the Semester involve continuous assessment there would be no scope for a student to appear as a private/non-collegiate candidate in any subject.
For any matter not covered under this Regulation for Semester System, the existing University Rules and the Gauhati University Act 1949 (as amended till date) should be applicable.
